Do not take your loved ones to this place if you expect them to not come home with more medication then they went in with. I did not even know that there was a such thing as an opioid maintenance program. Now she is convinced she is justified talking “Opioid light” Suboxane. The whole 30 days my wife was in treatment the only person I could talk to was the receptionist. No one else would call me back or except my calls.no family sessions or updates at all.I have been my wife’s primary care taker for years you would think they would want to talk to me regarding her treatment, but nope. The sad part of all of this is that it goes against everything on their website and in their brochure. Don’t waste your time!

Everything as far as staffing and meals were a # 1. But there were no punishment for the people that continuously disrupted everyone else's treatment it seem like the administration was only concerned about the money

They lie to get you in and it is a scummy place! The front office fools you making it look nice. Then if you tell your family they tell them you are lying and just an alcoholic. Please explain how people get pregnant in rehab? That has happened several times because once your there do what you want.

I really would have liked more one on one time with a counselor or smaller group sessions. Professional counselors. Variety of options in counseling and extracurricular activities were lacking.

I felt my stay at Twelve Oaks was rewarding in moving me towards recovery from addiction to prescribed opioids. The individual sessions from my counselor were a strong impetus to this recovery process. She was very professional, straight-forward and unforgiving when it came to excuses. The medical staff demonstrated compassion and from what I saw and experienced, acted in an appropriate manner to meet the medical needs of the patients. I was equally impressed with the kitchen and dietary staff. I am sure many reviews are unfavorable regarding the food, but the staff insured there were alternative meals to the posted menu. She also would take the time to meet with any individual needing special dietary requirements. By and large the tech staff were encouraging and supportive. There were however instances of inconsistent application of procedures; I am assuming this was due to a breakdown in communication to the staff, because of their understanding (or misunderstanding in some cases) of the procedures and their application. There is a large discrepancy in the professionalism of some of the counselors. I attended only one each of the group sessions led by two of the counselors. In one counselor’s session, I at first thought she was a patient. Upon walking into the room, she was seated barefoot, slouched down, with her feet up on the furniture. Her session was rampant with foul language and she took a confrontational approach in the discussions. In the second counselor’s session, she seemed to pride herself on the volume of profanity she could compact into each sentence. She seemed to encourage discussion with ‘smack talk’ to the patients. I personally made it a point not to attend either counselors’ future sessions and heard similar comments from other patients. This was unfortunate because the subject matter was very relevant but the message was lost in the delivery. Another thing that was very distracting; a young female patient. During her stay, it was obvious she was not serious about her recovery by her comments, disrespect and inappropriate behavior. She was discharged after completing her scheduled stay and three days later readmitted to begin her rehab process anew due to relapse. While I do not condone refusing treatment to anyone, readmitting her to the same facility with a familiar environment seemed to reinforce her previous behavior. She was also celebrated by other younger patients as a rebel and unfortunately a negative influence to be followed. The majority of the population, during my stay, was under 30 and most had been in rehab multiple times. And most of these were obviously not serious about being there or about their recovery.

This rehab is a joke. The counseling is ineffective and there is so many people the individual therapists look at the patients as an inconvenience that they don't have time for. Don't go here if you're looking for real recovery.

twelve oaks is such an effective treatment center. before twelve oaks, I had been to two rehabs in the previous year. after graduating from twelve oaks, I am now four months sober. the staff is very involved & treats you with respect. I wasn't just another patient. I was martha to them. I highly recommend this treatment center to anyone that wants to change their life & move on from the addiction that has been holding them back for so long.

This place saved my life! It is one place in the south that my insurance carrier would cover and it was a God-send! The counselors are very educated and they use the most updated information to assist with treatment and recovery! The dietary folks bend over backwards to assure you get the best nutrition according to your needs and taste! Loved the medical doctor! Great overall care and treatment! All the way to discharge time with help setting up Aftercare, outpatient services, therapy, etc , the attention was awesome! This treatment facility saved my life! Staff are super qualified and genuinely concerned with clients getting the most out of the time they have with us. Medical staff helpful and the medical doctor was amazing! Even the dietary/nutrition area is emphasized according to a persons needs and tastes. Would recommend to anyone out there hurting in the wraps of addictions!

Twelve Oaks does and always will have a special place in my heart. They saved my life in so many ways. It’s hard to believe that anyone who has left a negative review was serious about their recovery. I suppose appreciation for something given to you - life changing or not - sometimes only comes when someone wants it.

I was just there and the place was a disaster .. The people truly seeking to get help were overwhelmed by others that were there because they had to be ,,either there from running from the law or givin no other choice.. Could attend lecturers because they were poorly planned in the time of day because I was always standing in line for medications so I was always late .. A lot of their clients just wanted their daily dose of Suboxone.. They were very under staffed and unorganized and also overwhelmed by the number and behavior of some of their clients. I will say for the most part the staff as a whole were very good at their job and truly care about their clients. They just need be more able to help their disabled and older clients and organize their schedule to be more efficient and hire more staff .. I left after 12 days there because of these reasons .. Just wasn't able to gain anything else from my experience there

Rehab comes from inside the person. 12 Oaks provides a safe place with food shelter and a place to stay clean both physically, mentally and hygienically. The staff do their job and help the individual through a program that lets the individual know rehab and staying clean is the individuals responsibility. The doc and the nurses are all great. The counsellors can speak from experience and simply jet you know that this stuff is serious life and death stuff. This is your mind and body. After you leave 12 oaks you are all you have and if you do not attend AA, NA or whatever program you need its your mistake and you will relapse. 12 Oaks is only the beginning of rehab and recovery. They do their job there. The rest of it is between your ears....

My daughter is there now and the staff here has saved her life, literally! She has medical complications from her addiction, the staff recognized it, sent her to the local ER which sent her to wound care, where she was diagnosed with a sever medical problem. If it wasn\'t for the caring staff she would likely have died! DO NOT pay attention to those negative reviews! They are Gods angels if you ask me, they have kept my child alive!

My wife attended the program and relapsed shortly after. She enjoyed her vacation, but as far as treatment goes it seems pretty ineffective. She read off Facebook how many of her friends died from drugs she was there with after they were treated.

The counsellors are experienced and understanding. The other clients in treatment were fun and I felt at home there I loved it. We were able to go kayaking and swimming it's on the beach the food was delicious it was comfortable and the rules were fair. One of the best experiences of my life. I didn't like that I wasn't able to call home everyday but it may have been a good thing. One of the weaknesses was that it sometimes took awhile to see the doctor after your initial visit with him. It was affordable and helped people who didn't have insurance or money to pay offered plans. Helped with a plan for release so you don't go back to using drugs or alcohol. It was an overall fun experience I like having plenty time in the sun and making friends everyone was so nice and understanding. I also like the treatment plan they gave me while I was there and the detoxing facility was comfortable.

I was the family support for my niece and had been given full access to treatment info as status; however, when I would call no one know what was going on or for that matter how to get in touch with her counselor. After two hours there was no communication from any of the people I left vm for. They even gave me false information about he Mother coming to visit the nite before which I knew was not true. While a few of the employees were extremely helpful the place failed to work with family and as a result my niece ended up leaving the program after 4 days and I know if we had worked together she would have stayed longer. The overall experience was a disaster and I could not recommend because no one is in charge is up to date or responsive to the family unit

My daughter was discharged recently from Twelve Oaks and after talking with the counselor, she indicated she was ready to come home. We were told before she started this program that she could stay longer if need be. Well, as soon as she got home, she relapsed. I\'m so disappointed, because she really acted as if she was ready for a new beginning. I think she would have benefited more from Twelve Oaks if she could have stayed longer. I tried contacting Twelve Oaks on numerous occasions, but have gotten no response.

Excellent staff, very knowledgeable and caring. VERY relaxing environment. Food was great. I only wish they could have separated the patients who were there only to appease their parents or some judge from those of us who took our recovery very seriously and desperately wanted the help. As a veteran of 3 rehab facilities I must give them credit where it\'s due- this was by FAR the best program/facility with the best counselors that I\'ve dealt with.

I didn't attend this myself, but my dear friend who did, is in her 5th year of sobriety, so I have to believe it's strong in many ways. My friend, whom I mentioned earlier, is now a counselor and sponsor there, helping many other females work thru their addictions and problems.

The center is poorly ran with the techs not on the same program as each shift. The kids in treatment are the ones that run it, not the staff. The outdoor activities are a joke and the bombing range close by isn\'t good for the vets. The kitchen staff was awesome. I really don\'t think it\'s a conducive environment for anyone\'s recovery and would NOT recommend it to anyone. If the center focused on the person instead of all of the money they get, it could be a good place.

What a joke! They tell you that they are approved and will take them for a month. You send your child there and after a week they say your insurance isn't covering them so they put them. I agree with the other review of "money hungry!" Beware!

Official Facility Response
We certainly apologize for any ill experience you may have had with Twelve Oaks Recovery Center. It can be somewhat confusing sometimes when explaining the insurance to the family after doing a verification of benefits. Most policies provide up to 30 days benefit for a substance abuse treatment facility. That means that you have a benefit maximum of 30 days per calendar year typically. Your insurance, depending on your policy will almost always have a cost share. You will normally have a deductible and after that is met, you are responsible for whatever is not covered by the insurance. If your policy covers at 80%, then you would be responsible for 20%. Also, insurance requires that a patient continues to meet criteria for continued length of stay. There is a required pre-certification process and continuing stay review process. The facility continues to give updates and the insurance will decide if they continue to meet criteria in order for them to keep paying. Because you are choosing to utilize an in-network facility for your insurance, we are contractually obligated to follow this process. Once your insurance decides that the patient no longer meets criteria, you do have the option to private pay. Unfortunately, treatment does cost money and yes, it is an investment in your future. We cannot legally waive all fees. We understand that most families are desperate once they have finally made the decision to send their loved one to treatment. We at Twelve Oaks believe that we give the best care possible and continually work to provide an atmosphere for healing and sobriety. It is unfortunate that the experience you had financially clouded the actual treatment received. For a full explanation of benefits, please contact your insurance carrier. We at Twelve Oaks are available as well.

I was a total mess when I arrived at Twelve Oaks, completely beaten down by life and my disease. I had nothing left, no hope, could not look anyone in the eyes. I left with hope, tools to face life and follow-up contacts. Even though it's a long drive, I go back when I can to share my experience, strength and hope. Excellent program, including an Alumni group online and at yearly get-togethers. This is an intensive program with excellent staff, well-maintained facility with decent food in a beautiful setting by the water.

The group stuff was fine but without the assigned counselor spending time and getting to know the patient's history it's impossible to provide treatment and not fair to them or the family who paid all that money to help their loved one. The counselor never spent any time with the patient to get to know him. It's impossible to treat someone if you don't know anything about them. It was just a money grab then you sit in groups, eat and sleep. They made no effort to talk to him and find out what's going on inside and work on things, Just groups no individual treatment. It helped somewhat but was lacking. Pictures of facility weren't the same / gym didn't exist etc.
