My 24 year old son was spiraling downhill and we needed help. New Method Wellness was exactly what he needed. From our initial contact with NMW, we could tell they knew what they were doing. They understood his dual diagnosis as well as what we as a family were going through. His two therapist were amazing and helped him process a lot of difficult things. Even after he left outpatient, NMW was still there to make sure he was on the right track. New Method Wellness clearly cares about their clients. I would recommend them 100%.

The owners truly care about the clients. When I arrived at New Method, the staff and clients embraced me and made me feel more welcome than I ever have felt before at other treatment centers. Effective treatment, most of the staff are in recovery themselves and this makes it easier to build trust. I miss New Method so much that I’m finishing a degree so that I can go back and work for them. I recommend New Method over Hazelden any day.

Do not go here if you have any diagnosis of bipolar. Their doctor put me on lithium. I personally was never on this medicine and once I was on this drug could not communicate to my counselor or my loved ones that I couldn't speak or communicate that I couldn't function.

While New Method Wellness has helped many people cope with their addictions, allowing many clients to heal, I was among the population that had a number of negative interactions with the center. I initially signed up for 30 days, but I was trying to get all my ducks in a row (so to speak), and work out the logistics to make it possible to stay longer. I would loved to have stayed 60 or even 90 days, but as time went on the center kept dropping the ball. My family and I was told that the office could easily take care of my TRS disability, but that was the farthest thing from the truth. The paperwork was brought with me and I gave it to them immediately. It was with the understanding that as soon as the TRS was taken care of I could extend my contract. I also needed to cancel or rebook a cruise that would interfere with longer treatment, but the 15 minutes of phone time once or twice a week is an inadequate amount of time to handle this type of cancellation or rebooking. During my second week at NMW, things went downhill fast. Tthe Health Office told me the TRS paperwork been faxed (not once, but twice). I bugged my therapist about it, because I wanted to verify that the forms had in fact been received. I called TRS, and they had only received one partially completed physicians certification from THEIR physician. TRS checked a number of times, and no such faxes had been received. ( I had also asked for the fax confirmation to be printed but I kept getting the run around, then told to get back to group.) Another low of this TRS disability debacle, (remember: they absolutely confident that this paperwork could easily get done in no time, and they did this on a regular basis) came when it was told to me that THEIR Psychiatrist would not be the second physician to fill out the mandatory second Physicians Certification form (and he was my treating Psychiatrist). But the highlights of the week include: -TRS paperwork not being faxed by negligence, ignorance or by choice -my therapist set up a phone conference time with my husband one morning for 9 am (11 am Chicago time), and he would have had to stop his semi truck in order to talk at that time (which he did). However, she didn’t come to get me for the session, my husband was left hanging and she skipped therapy with me that day. He was never contacted about something more important coming up for her that day. -adequate time was not given to cancel or rebook cruise in order to extend treatment -I have two growths on my right front shin that are itchy, turning purple and getting larger. They took me to Dr., and she said it was Folliculitus, gave me 10 days of antibiotics and an ointment. It continued to get worse. I’d show them, and they’d say it was looking better????!!!! (Update: I got home from there on 02/24/2018, and I have a dermatologist appointment on 02/28/2018. I hope to God it isn’t anything that should have been treated properly sooner, while I was under THEIR direct medical care. If their primary hadn’t a solution, then schedule me with a dermatologist. This could create some interesting liabilities.) - Thursday morning 02/08/2018 my therapist neglected to come get me for another session, so I asked for a 15 minute pass to call my husband that evening. She gave me one. However, as we were leaving to the park, she told me she “Had to, had to, had to talk to me before I left the center that Thursday for the weekend (I wouldn’t see her again until Monday). When I came back from the park, prior to our departure back to the residential houses, she couldn’t/wouldn’t come out to see me. She absolutely wouldn’t see me and told the receptionist) to tell me it was no big deal?! What the heck? It went from super important to... nothing because it wasn’t convenient for her to come see me at that time? Does anyone else find this unprofessional? Maybe it’s just me... I went to the residence, called my husband, and first apologized on behalf of her for blowing him off and not being courteous enough to call him. Then I proceeded to tell him of my frustrations and told him I wasn’t getting one on one therapy often, and when I did it was only a partial session. I told him I was ready to come home. He then told me she had told him AND my mom that we were not going to be able to do Skype family sessions - my husband and I got off the phone, the house manager called my therapist because I was set on leaving early. She asked me what was going on and I reinterated my frustrations. She then said I had been deceptive with my phone pass to call my husband, and I had deceived her. I stayed calm, but she yelled at me about each of my frustrations. Going even as far as saying,” I don’t know how to do TRS, I don’t know how to rebook a cruise. Not very therapeutic.

Funny story I googled programs that had Surf therapy and I came across New Method Wellness. Maybe I was looking for an easy way out but when I arrived my expectations were far exceeded with what I discovered. Unbelievable experience. Here I am sober 2 years later. Thank you New Method.

Family member has stayed sober longer than any other time and felt safe and secure at NMW. It is more organized than other places we've had experience with and they truly seem to care and pay attention to the needs of each client. The psychiatric was very good at answering questions and giving thoughtful helpful counsel about medications and other concerns. Generally it was very professionally run and it helped our family member start a new life.

The treatment was adequate. The business practices were appalling. There are other treatment centers that offer better treatment that have a professional business manager that does not call you demanding money ( in addition to the large amount that was billed and paid by insurance).
