Keystone has a Native American program that addresses the traditional values of the Native American patient We recognize the uniqueness of the Native American patient and are sensitive to the culture in the treatment process. Our staff includes Native American counselors as well as Native American Cultural and Spiritual advisors.

Our residential gambling treatment is provided for those patients age 18 and over. We have Nationally Certified Gambling Counselors on staff that assess each patient and develop an individualized treatment plan to address the problems associated with gambling addiction.
Keystone Treatment Center provides a program that delivers a comprehensive individualized continuum of care for chemically dependent persons and/or their family members who have been affected by the disease of alcoholism and/or drug abuse, gambling and co-occurring illnesses (addiction & psychiatric disorders.) The services available include a free standing residential facility that provides a medically monitored adult and adolescent inpatient treatment services (including detoxification), adult and adolescent partial care, adult and adolescent outpatient services, family programs, aftercare services, gambling treatment, mental health services, Native American counseling services, and EAP services.

Luther M. Hegland, is on the staff at Keystone Treatment Center in Canton, SD. Since 2003, he has been on staff as the Consulting Psychiatrist for the Adult Unit. Dr. Hegland is board certified in psychiatry. He was Chief Resident for the University of South Dakota School of Medicine. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Engineering Physics. Dr. Hegland is a medical review officer and is buprenorphine certified by A.S.A.M. Currently, he is also the Staff Psychiatrist at Community Mental Health in Mitchell, SD and was a Consulting Psychiatrist for the South Dakota Penitentiary System.More
Carol Regier is the Executive Director of Keystone Treatment Center in Canton, South Dakota. She has been with Keystone since it’s beginning in 1973. Carol has been involved in many aspects of the field of chemical dependency, from her first position as a staff nurse to her current position of Executive Director.
