Freedom House Events

The Freedom House – Larry Grantham Celebrity Golf Outing, held every summer, features members of the Super Bowl New York Jets, sports celebrities, and an extraordinary day of golf and dining at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. Freedom House Distinguished Citizens Award Banquet is held each fall. A gala event, the evening honors individual(s) with the Distinguished Citizens Award, which recognizes outstanding support and leadership in the fight against alcohol and drug abuse. Super Bowl XLVIII Ticket Raffle – Win two (2) tickets to the first outdoor, cold weather Super Bowl, February 2, 2014 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. Tickets are $10, and the drawing will be held on December 24, 2013 at 12:00 p.m.

Treatment Center Philosophy

Freedom House is a national leader in long-term treatment of adult men and women with alcohol and drug addictions, employing a 100 percent abstinence policy, with no allowance for relapse. With limited space and long waiting lists, Freedom House accepts only those patients with the desire and will power to recover from addiction. Freedom House’s program consists of customized treatment and relapse prevention plans that include both mental and physical health considerations for each individual.

Meet The Staff

Galindo L. King, MHS, LCADC, CCS
Executive Director

Glenn King became Clinical Director at Freedom House in 2001. Prior to that, he was Senior Counselor. He is responsible for the clinical operation of the program and serves as a supervisor for the counselors at Freedom House. Mr. King is also a graduate of the Freedom House substance abuse treatment program and passes along his life experiences and wisdom to the residents of the house. Prior to his position at Freedom House, Mr. King worked for the New Jersey Association on Corrections serving as program supervisor for a male/female halfway house for pre-release parolees. In his role, Mr. King oversaw the daily operations of the program, supervised staff and clients, implemented program activities, recruited and interviewed employees and monitored program effectiveness and expenditures. Mr. King has worked as a consultant for the State of New Jersey Intensive Supervision Program (I.S.P.) since 1993. He is responsible for providing assessments, consultation, group and individual counseling sessions to participants. From 1979 to 1987, Mr. King served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, First Ranger Battalion at Fort Stewart and Drill Instructor at Fort Dix. He received many commendations and awards during his service including Achievement and Commendation medals and Sharpshooter badges. Mr. King received a Master’s Degree in Human Services from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. He is a member of Pi Gamma Mu, an international honor society in social sciences. Mr. King is currently a doctoral student at the University of Phoenix, where he is pursuing a Doctorate degree in Organizational Management and Leadership. He has taken courses at the Deeper Training Institute in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, towards his biblical counselor certification. He is a member of The Greater Shiloh Church, located in Easton, Pennsylvania, and serves as a group leader of “God Will Change Your Life” a ministry for recovering addicts. Mr. King also gives back to the community by helping community members’ access substance abuse treatment, jobs, and housing. He has coordinated and participated in several projects for New Jersey and Pennsylvania non-profit organizations. Mr. King and his wife Tina live in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and have four children.
