Treatment Center Philosophy

Our program strives to uncover, acknowledge, and address the individual needs of our clients through a variety of therapy and treatment options. Our treatment approach matches the strengths from both client and staff to formulate a workable plan for recovery. We recognize that the impact drug and alcohol abuse has on an individual can vary, so our admissions process begins with developing a clear understanding of every client's current situation. After our initial assessment, a variety of therapeutic approaches are available to maximize the probability of a positive long term outcome for the client.

"I saw myself in other places more as a statistic rather than an actual person . . . Having people really stand by my side and do anything in their power to see me succeed- it meant a lot to me that people actually cared."

Meet The Staff

Dr. Sarah Wicklund, MD FAPA
Medical Director

Dr. Wicklund is a Board Certified Psychiatrist with a particular interest in treating PTSD (particularly in veterans and first responders), dual diagnosis (substance abuse along with another mental illness), and those with treatment-resistant depression. She attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology in 2002 and her Master of Science degree in Food Chemistry in 2004. She then went on to the University of Illinois College of Medicine for medical school where she graduated in 2008. And in 2012, she completed her residency training in Psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During her time at MCW, she served as Chief Resident for the Milwaukee VA where she found herself drawn to treating veterans. After residency, she and her family relocated to Scottsdale, AZ where she joined the medical staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital working with patients in the inpatient setting at Valley Hospital. In 2013 she had the opportunity to join the Phoenix VA and for the past 5 years has worked with patients both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. This has garnered her extensive experience in treating PTSD and dual diagnosis patients. She was excited to be asked to be Medical Director for Fountain Hills Recovery because of their focus on treating veterans and first responders. This partnership allows for better continuity of care for patients suffering from substance abuse because she can follow their treatment from the more intense residential substance abuse setting to the outpatient setting at Mindfully Integrated Health and vice versa. She looks forward to working with you to improve your wellbeing and reach your full potential.

Definitely NOT a place I would EVER recommend. They are very degrading and unprofessional to their clients. The F word is every other word out of their mouths. A lot of empty promises. I never received any kind of therapy nor was I ever assigned to a "counselor". It is a 12 step program, I was not informed of that until I was there and we went to AA, NA and CA meetings. Group was a joke, the "counselors" were in and out of the room a majority of the time. I left early, was told I could leave but I could not get my belongings (vehicle keys and wallet) until Monday morning. They were perfectly ok with not letting me use the phone to call for a ride since I had no access to my keys or money. Big big big thumbs down

One on One attention. Customized Treatment. Amenities are beautiful. The owner is very compassionate and every once in a while clients get special treatment. Fountain Hills Recovery is by far the best treatment center I have attended. The staff was so helpful and accommodating to me in my recovery. The facilities were top of the line. The treatment experience was challenging and life changing.
