Testimonials

  • "After seeing the news I told my husband about ARC and we were intrigued. Our daughter was suffering from addiction and needed help. The cost of ARC for a year compared to a month or two of the treatment centers she’d been to before. This was our daughter’s life. She had a 2% chance of success, and is now over 2 years sober and she is finishing school this year. We are grateful to the ARC team for walking with our daughter and us for a year, and as a result have allowed us all to be a family again."
  • "Everything out there is the same animal but with different clothing. Go away to treatment, come home, go to 90 meetings in 90 days, and see a therapist. Some suggest aftercare for 6 months to a year. I tried all that. Bottom line – nothing worked for me but the Aware program. It was exactly what I needed. They didn’t tell me what not to do, they showed me how to live my life and they walked with me through it. I'm the first to recommend ARC. I have my life back. Peace of mind and sobriety is priceless"
  • "I’d been to over a dozen treatment centers in the past decade. Facing over 5 years in prison for yet another drug offense, I was doing 85 bags of heroin a day, and was hopeless. My therapist suggested I try something different - Aware Recovery Care. I sit here, 3.5 years later with 3.5 years of sobriety, and a peace and happiness that I thought was out of reach. The program itself was amazing. It wasn’t in a bubble, it was in real life with structure and support. ARC didn’t just teach me recovery, they helped me live it."
  • "I was a chronic pain patient from doing extreme sports, and got addicted to opiates. My mom found ARC and I knew it was different than what’s available. I’d tried numerous times to get clean by myself, and had relapsed within weeks of getting out of treatment. I started the ARC program and it was different. The team was amazing and caring, and treated me like a friend and family member. ARC worked with me for a full year and helped my family recover too. I am 2 years sober and have never been so happy with the person I am."
  • "We contacted Aware and were impressed with their experience with addiction philosophy of a one-year period of treatment, in-home. We loved that Aware kept us informed of the issues being worked on and resolved one by one. I’ll admit that we were concerned with the cost of the program, but what price is too much when your son or daughter’s life is at stake? We choose to look at the fee as if it was a 5th year of college. We thank Aware for giving us back our son and helping Jonathan to reclaim his life from drugs & alcohol."
  • "The Team at ARC was incredibly competent and cared very much about me reclaiming my life from addiction. With their help I am now more than 12 months clean. They helped me find employment and meaning in my life. The Aware Care program was different from anything else available. Their treatment model was extremely effective and turned my life around. I literally can’t thank them enough. I would say to anyone struggling with addiction and considering this route, that it's definitely worth your time and effort. What do you have to lose, other than the sickness in your soul?"

Aware Recovery Care has a diverse group of people that work there as a team, it also has may spinning wheels that all come together to help each client individually. No client is has the same treatment, each client is different, and therefore this program is catered to them, and their families. The Aware program is a 52 week program where we as a team work with the client, and their families, because we know addiction not only effects the client, but the entire house hold. We work around out clients schedule, so they are able to work, and not lose time from their jobs. Also we as a team will help introduce clients, and families to a support system of clean and sober people, so when we do walk away, our clients, and their families have a support system. There is a entire network of people in recovery that people just aren't aware of, not just NA, or AA. Not every client is comfortable with NA, or AA, so we find something for everyone, someone, or something that they connect to, or relate to. There are many paths to recovery, and we explore all paths in order to help our clients, and families. Private pay, and Anthem are paying methods at this time, so we are unable to reach all the people in need of our services. Addiction has touched so many of us, and sometimes people feel as though they are being judged, but at Aware Recovery Care, there is no judgment.

My experience with Aware Recovery was dismal. I found them to be unsupportive and unprofessional and often made recommendations and/or took actions that were not in the best interest of me or my family. The first nurse assigned to me outright lied about contacting me after a discussion with my husband. When I required inpatient treatment they recommended that I go to California even though there are 2 highly regarded treatment centers in CT. In addition to the financial burden this caused it also left significant issues it also caused major issues to go unaddressed due to my being out of state. My clinician failed to show up for my session during a stressful holiday week. That was the last straw for me. I have many more examples. If your motivated and want to stay sober get involved with AA. Don't waste your time with Aware. The positive reviews on the site sound so fake and don't reflect at all my experience.

Thank you for your detailed and specific response. It is extremely helpful to read your review so that I can take your experience back to the clinical team to address your concerns. At Aware Recovery Care, thankfully, we are in a constant state of growth and development as a result of the hard work and desire to do the right thing. As someone who was one of the first clients at Aware after going to over a dozen treatment centers personally, I know what the magic is and how we differ from a more traditional offering. I am sorry that you had a negative experience. As you so eloquently wrote in your review, not any single experience can possibly represent everyone's opinion, nor can it represent absolute reality. Without both positive and negative feedback, like in any other arena in life, we are not able to learn or develop. I hope that you have found your path to recovery, health, and wellness. Our paths are as unique as all of us as individuals are. Thanks again for sharing your review and rest assured that we will take it to heart.

If you want only the best for you or a loved one, Aware is your way to go. As a client and hopefully, eventually a staff team member, I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for the amazing staff and quality of treatment. After an impatient program, they helped me get back into school after being expelled, along wth graduating. They helped teach me to do everything I couldn't do for myself while I was using. I have recommended Aware to many friends and loved ones and I will continue to do so.

As once a client and now a staff member, I had the unique experience of being involved with Aware Recovery Care since the beginning. What Aware has grown into is something remarkable and amazing. Aware Recovery Care ( ARC ) is now in 2 different states ( CT and New Hampshire ), with plans to expand across the USA. ARC treats clients in their own homes and surrounding communities during the first year, proven to be the most critical time period for folks to establish a continuum of care that allows for long term recovery, peace, and happiness. Aware's program is the most realistic and logical treatment program that I have ever had pleasure of attending and working for. What we do is not rocket science, but we use every tool necessary to maximize clinical outcomes for our clients while utilizing the latest evidence based treatments while individualizing each and every one of our treatment plans.

In-Home, Long term, makes complete sense, chronic treatment for chronic disease, very experienced staff, compassionate and caring and dedicated. Unlike any other program that I have every had the pleasure of completing. N/A - Just that there aren't locations other than Connecticut and now New Hampshire. I learned about Aware Recovery Care when I saw an advertisement in Connecticut Magazine. I contacted them by phone and had a lovely conversation with one of the employees there..This was back in December of 2015. He invited me to come into the office where I met with him and several other people. We talked about my depression, impending divorce, and the fact that I was turning increasingly to alcohol to relieve my symptoms of depression and to numb myself from feeling emotional pain. We discussed insurance, and he told me that the program would be covered under by Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield plan. I signed up and began the program. At first, Aware was concerned that I might need to go to the hospital for withdrawal treatment, but I assured them that I had in the past quit spontaneously on my own and never suffered any consequences. I declined to go to the hospital. Next, they put me in contact with a nurse practitioner who I met with several times so that she could evaluate my health and mental status and be sure that I was not in any danger. I don’t recall her name, but she was lovely and very encouraging. During this time, I was regularly meeting with one staff member...who was counseling me and putting me in touch with the staff nurse for urine screenings and blood pressure readings. Everyone was extremely compassionate and kind. It has been nine months now that I have been on the program. In addition to my regular contact with the staff, I am in a very good place. Everyone has been wonderful. Staff has always been there for me and I always felt that I could call them at any time of the day or night for help if I was feeling lost, or if I was feeling the need to abuse alcohol again. Another staff member..was also wonderful and provided all kinds of useful advice and comfort to me as I tried to navigate all the impending divorce issues. One counselor has become my “spiritual life coach” and helped me to figure out all kinds of things….like how to take care of myself, find ways to alleviate my pain that did not involve alcohol, and how to structure my time in a way that is productive and self-affirming. I have grown so much throughout the year. I feel capable, confident and able to manage the many, many challenges of my life including the recent death of my dear Father. I’m probably forgetting a few names of people at Aware that have helped me, so please forgive me for that. I do so appreciate everyone that I came in contact with for their kindness and their compassion. Truly, I could not have accomplished all that I have this year without your love and support. I would highly recommend this program to anyone that is suffering from alcohol addiction. While I did not attend rehab before attending Aware, I can see how this program would complement rehab for its focus on getting the client to a place of wholeness, self-sufficiency, and self-awareness. I am more than happy to speak to future clients if they want a reference for the program, or if they simply want to know more about how it all works. I am truly indebted to Aware for a remarkable period of Recovery. Thank you, and God Bless each and every one of you for what you do. Sincerely.

For those that live in CT or for those returning from treatment to CT for aftercare, Aware Recovery Care is the ideal choice for effective in-home addiction treatment. We become a part of our clients lives, and are intimately involved with all aspects of their happenings. We like to say, "give us a year, and we will give you your life back."

The program delivers the treatment into my home. The clinician's worked around my work schedule and helped me deal with stress that I get from work. The best thing was the work with my wife and kids. Involving the family therapist helped improve trust and communication between my entire family. The facility does not have groups and is only one on one. I don't consider this a weakness, however after being at so many treatment centers I have become accustomed to group therapy. Aware recovery care helped me transition home after my last stay in rehab. I have been to three in patient rehabs in the past and have always come home to go right back to work and taking care of my family. Aware helped me learn to ways to cope with the stress at work and home. In the past I have always struggled returning home after work and wanting to drink, but knowing there was someone there to meet with me and offer support helped me to get through my cravings until they were manageable and all but disappeared. Not only did my aware team become part of my family, the family therapist helped my family become united again. My husband was able to forgive me and my daughter was able to finally share how she was affected by my drinking. Unbelievably deep and heart wrenching family sessions, coupled with the help from my team, allowed my family to finally heal. It took time and was not easy, however we would have never been able to do it without the care and support that Aware provided us. Aware has a model that adapted to my lifestyle and has supported me to achieve the life I never imagined I would live again. I have recommended the program to a colleague and she is currently restoring her life as I did.

Thanks, Tanya, for your feedback! As one of the first few clients at Aware Recovery Care, I have had the unique experience of taking part in the development and growth of the company, and now I sit as a partner and owner. I am very pleased that you were able to have a positive experience at Aware, and wish to genuinely thank you for taking the time to write this review. At Aware we take great pride in our services and our ability to provide a different approach to addiction treatment. As you know, we focus our efforts mainly on the individual client, but also we understand the need to include the family system as a whole. Lastly, the full year may seem intimidating at first glance, but I believe you would agree that the first year is absolutely critical to set the stage for the rest of your life. Thanks again and please keep in touch with us and your care team. You are part of the Aware family forever, just as Aware will be a part of yours! Warm Regards.

Experienced staff, a new approach, developed by Yale addiction psychiatrists, very affordable, compassionate employees, very individualized, effective, very responsive. My son found Aware searching on the Internet, and it saved his life and has made our lives all the better. We have our son back. We spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on sober houses, extended care, inpatient and outpatient facilities, all of which were overpriced treatment traps...every single place had the same result - eventual relapse. Aware costs for a year, what most cost for 1 or 2 months...and get this, Aware actually works! My son finally found his way and is now a healthy and happy young man. Aware is the future of addiction treatment.

Effective, long term, innovative, different, highly individualized, very reasonably priced, amazing staff, private, comfortable. I had gone to over a dozen traditional treatments in 10 years and was addicted to opiates. Every one of them was very similar , the idea was to keep me from home and in a controlled environment while the world around me kept progressing and changing. I would do very well in every place I went, but would come home and leave the "bubble" only to come home and relapse. Aware Recovery Care walked with me to help me learn and live recovery. Their special attention to family systems work was like none other. I could work, goto school, spend time with friends, and live with support and guidance. Aware came to my home and helped me get my life back on track.
