Meg Newman is a licensed marriage and family therapist who has a BA in Psychology from the University of San Francisco and an MS in Educational Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University at Long Beach. Meg has supervised MFT trainees and provided individual and group psychotherapy for clients struggling with substance abuse, trauma, and other mental health disorders. Meg has worked in inpatient and outpatient settings with adolescents struggling with substance abuse, eating disorders, and other behavioral issues, and she notes that issues related to trauma lay beneath the presenting behaviors that bring clients in for treatment. Dr. Egan studied neuroscience at the University of Texas before moving on to medical school at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). After having her first child at the end of medical school, she became interested in child behavior and development, and pursued residency and Child and Adolescent fellowship at UCLA, specializing in the early diagnosis and treatment of childhood disorders and working with families to improve communication and relationships in order to help children thrive. Since her early training, Dr. Egan has devoted part of her work to low-income community clinics in the Los Angeles area.More
