I have been through treatment before, but nothing compares to the care you get here. It is intense one-on-one treatment and helped me more than I can say. the real deal and work tirelessly to help you. If you are a married man and do not want to go to a treatment center with single kids, then Arrowhead Lodge Recovery is the place to go for help. You will be with men who are your peers and who want to get sober, rather than 20 something heroin addicts still living off their parents. I've been sober for a year now and back with my wife and children and working again in my medical career. I cannot say thanks enough!

My son was in need of recovery. From the moment I talked with the co-owner, I started to feel a moment of relief. She took charge and completely understood the situation that I was facing. It took a couple times to get my son to accept the idea that he needed this but once I got him there they took charge of him. It took him a while to submit and accept what needed to be accepted and once we passed that hurdle, things started developing in the right direction. A staff stood in almost as a surrogate "parent" to help my son understand what he was doing and got him to see past his addiction and start becoming the person he was years ago. Therapy my son received was extensive. His interaction with therapists and doctors helped provide him the necessary tools to clear his mind, and start living a grateful life. The facility is very comfortable, a large mountain side house with plenty of room to find a quiet place to think, a kitchen that is semi-gourmet, with a meal plan that is healthy, my son gained about 20 pounds while in therapy which he needed. They also got him off of his addiction to smoking which is a great side benefit. The availability to talk with the therapists and was never an issue...I called them often and they always listened and counseled me which I needed. My son has decided to stay in Prescott to continue outpatient therapy with the therapist he was assigned to because they have formed a close relationship. Their attention to his case was very evident, they cared greatly about his recovery and I felt so very comfortable with their advise and counsel. This place deserves all of the credit for turning a loose, crazed horse back into a young man that I can be proud to call my son. Thank you Thank you Thank you...did I say Thank you enough! If you need help, go here.

My father was admitted due to alcoholism. This was pretty much his last chance of getting help otherwise he was going to die if he continued drinking. The staff was amazing including the facilities. Beautiful location! He said the food was great and they were able to assist with getting him back on healthy eating plan.

I had my doubts about AHL because of experiences in other places. I figured it was just another brick in the wall. After a call to AHL, I made the decision to meet and talk with the owner. It was the smartest choice I could have made. Surprisingly, he not only understood what was happening in my thought process, but he helped me get deeper into it to figure out why it was happening. What I learned gave me better perspective while I was there and it continues to be an active part of my daily life. Five stars, simply amazing! Seclusion is a wonderful thing. In order to clear my head I had to silence the noise. AHL's remote location was the ideal place to do this as they are on a mountain, away from the daily grind. I wouldn't necessarily call it a weakness because it's not something everybody does...but I enjoy swimming regularly.

I worked for Arrowhead Lodge for over a year. I have worked at 4 other treatment facilities in Prescott area and Arrowhead Lodge is the best treatment program in Prescott for the population that they serve.Individualized attention for men over 30. It can be difficult to recruit and retain line staff.

As a licensed associate counselor I have had the privilege of working with seasoned professionals. This is an advantage for me as I am new to the field. The services offered here exceed other facilities because we treat a smaller number of clients than most facilities. I have found that Arrowhead is a very comfortable, safe atmosphere for mature men to recover without the noise and distractions of younger populations. Staff are educated and professional. The property and surrounding area is beautiful and relaxing.

Catering to an older age group made my Uncle feel a lot more comfortable when looking for treatment for alcoholism. Not only did he get the help that he needed but also the tools to manage and maintain his sobriety. I can't thank the staff at Arrowhead large enough. The staff and the location.

Glad I came. I was treated with dignity and respect. The biggest piece of knowledge I gained from Arrowhead was how to live a productive life as a man in recovery aside from living the "Man Code". The people who work here. Material covered through books, group counseling, and individual therapy. It's a smaller company which offers a lot of 1 on 1 time with clients. The shopping for food is very disorganized.

My dad came to this treatment center. He didn't want to come at first, but he is very happy now. He stopped smoking and hasn't had a drink or gotten high in over 6 months. My mom is happy and she doesn't cry anymore. If you know anyone that needs treatment, they should come here. Staff are awesome.

My brother went there after trying other treatment facilities. He paid exactly what he was told he would pay and he left there a changed man. He's been sober for 12 months now for the first time since he got out of college. I highly recommend Arrowhead Lodge Recovery. It's only for men. It's hard to think of one because he came out of there sober.

Arrowhead Lodge is an excellent inpatient facility for men 30 and up. They offer a simple plan to recovery you can apply practically to your life. They help you sort through your past and heal broken relationships. If you want to avoid the drama of younger populations in recovery try this place. It's quiet and client focused.

I stayed 1 day. It's a two hour Shuttle ride from PHX airport cost is $39.00 one way. The location is in the mountains 20 minutes from town. The home is beautiful it even has a bar in it along with a wine refrigerator triggers for this alcoholic. The reason I left was because off the amount of Patients, myself and one other person. He planned on leaving in a few days. Possible others coming next week. For me I need more people to interact with.At check I was told of incidentals charges and they wanted a credit card with $500.00. I didn't do that. Beware they charge for every little thing. IE charge to take you to a Doctor, hospital among other things. I don't smoke so beware if you do no smoking at all. You are expected to clean your room, bathroom. You must cook your own meals. The refrigerator is full of nasty left overs and expired food. The staff "the people who watch the house" give you your medicine. My AM meds were given to me by the guy who cleans overnight!!! One days is all it took for me to realize this place is not for me. I paid $1000.00 dollars I doubt I will see that money. For $1800.00 a day "this cost is posted in the home" you shouldn't have to be a cook or maid. I don't mind helping out. Money driven system. Beware, One day Chicago

Official Facility Response
Reviews are one of the best ways to choose a service or product, so we are happy to have this opportunity to respond. We’re proud that our facility is smaller in size compared to most – only 12 beds. The small size of our facility is intentional, as our clients receive an extraordinary level of one-on-one personal attention from our two full-time licensed therapists, and the rest of our professional team. We regret this client could not see the benefit of this life changing care. We are a no-smoking facility, as nicotine is a deadly and addictive substance. New clients are assisted with a smoking taper over three days, with the help of nicotine patches and gum, the use of which, is monitored by a Physician. Our staff who assist with medications are certified. The Lodge was built as a 10,000 sq. ft. luxury private residence before we remodeled it as a licensed facility. It does not have a bar or wine refrigerator; it does however have a lovely mini kitchen, previously used for entertaining in the great room. Every Friday, a licensed nutritionist is at the Lodge for a two-hour food education and cooking group. Our refrigerator is cleaned out and checked for expiration dates twice weekly. Clients and staff work together to prepare meals as this program is a community based model. We feel this helps our clients experience how to cook healthy, so when they leave, they stay focused on good nutritional habits. At Arrowhead Lodge we have fully trained care coordinator staff, three shifts per 24-hour day, and when they are not caring directly for the clients, they all have cleaning tasks. Clients are responsible for maintaining their private space and keeping their bathroom clean. Addiction and mental health issues often times go hand in hand, we continue to wish this man the very best and hope he finds sobriety and good mental health.

I have been in recovery since 2013, had a relapse in 2015, and spent 45 days at Arrowhead lodge starting at the end of 2016. I am thankful for my experience, but also disappointed. The location of the lodge is absolutely amazing; out the front door are nice areas to walk, hike, or run. And the view of Thumb Butte at sunrise is breath taking. While I was there, they had 3-6 people (mid 30's to early 60's). Each one of the BHT's contributed positively on a daily basis, and one even helped me do my 12 steps (i.e. sponsor-like). The two main counselors were good, and had very different educational approaches .One counselor introduced many personal reflection tools/concepts that I haven't seen in any 12 step program, almost all of which have guided me well past my Arrowhead days. With regards to the program itself, there didn't really seem to be any accountability or progress benchmarks. Meaning; forward progress really amounted to each individuals effort. Example: I was complete step 11 in my 45 days, among other activities, while others didn't finish step 4 in 90 days. Additionally, when I entered the program they claimed to support sex addiction and PTSD, as well as drug/alcohol addiction. I was not allowed to go to any local SA/SLA/SAA meetings, even though I had asked on several occasions. Not being able to go was mainly a policy issue; "patients travel as a group." Even so, they said they would take me to SA if I extended my stay for another 45 days. What? With regards to their policies, I am not sure they are in the best interest of the patients. I entered the program completely intoxicated (no detox), known by counselor, and was introduced to the other patients in that state. During my last week, a new patient was brought to the lodge intoxicated, no detox, and so weak he could barely walk. The lodge is cleaned by the patients, with the deep clean happening before the Saturday day trip, so it was completely half-assed. I am not a super clean freak, but: dried skin build up on the floor molding in each room? Through all that, my biggest issues was with the owner! He performed a psychological intake exam when I arrived. We then video conference with the psychiatrist but the owner guiding him, with regards to my symptoms (i.e. sounds like he may be bipolar). With very little direct communication with me, the psychiatrist prescribed some medication for me. The result; I ended up at the hospital (ER). Part of the Arrowhead program is to help find an aftercare program for exiting patience. The owner stated he had some good contact for me, but in the end when I asked about IOP options, I got the run around. So, my wife and I figured it out. Ultimately, the reason I decided not to stay was because about 25-30 days into the program, I started experiencing PVC's for the first time in my life. After a week of trying to see the medical staff, I decided staying wasn't in my best interest. Months after leaving I experienced most of the owner's mistruths. The first was around my bill; an excel spreadsheet indicating a return of ~ $9K of my deposit. When I inquired about my deposit check, I was told the owner wasn't available. About 1.5 months later I received a revised bill, and my deposit return decreased to ~5K. When I tried to contact him for simple clarification, he avoided my calls and didn't answer my emails. I received my $5K return, with a nonsensical letter from him. Before entering Arrowhead, he stated that they would work with my insurance company, and also stated they were Blue Shield and Blue Cross preferred providers. He hired a company to negotiate with my primary insurance, without informing me of doing so, and then charged me for this, without providing any sort of proof (i.e. no paid invoice). When I asked for the proof of the fees, he again ignored my emails and phone calls. Since my secondary insurance was Blue Shield, I found out that they aren't a preferred provider for code: H0025 (I believe), which is essentially the first 30 days. The remaining time of stay is code: H0018 (I believe) , so the good news is; if you have blue shield he has to write off a significant amount of the $995/day he charges during those days. I have other examples of my interactions with the owner, but my general assessment is he lacks integrity, which is ironic since he runs a recovery facility based on 12 steps. He had some really good staff when I was there, which seemed genuinely there to help. My general feelings from my experience; He acts as if he cares as long as you are a source of income, once that ends don't expect anything from him - even if you are still patient at his facility.

Insurance companies are paying providers less and less each year. He is correct that we have a rehab program second to none that treats men over 30 exclusively and all new clients are cleared by a board-certified physician prior to admission into our program. Our staff members are highly educated and trained and provide the highest level of care to our clients. When we recommend someone stays longer, it is because our multi-disciplinary clinical team recommends it rather than an effort to increase revenue. The other comments by Mr. “J” are without merit and it’s unfortunate that he feels mistreated by an organization. We wish him the best in living a life free from addiction with good mental health.
