This place is a nightmare. When I attempted to get attention I was shushed. But 3 min later when a patient of staff members approached they helped them immediately. This happened all the time in different scenarios. If you care about your self and dignity AT ALL or your family member's don't go here. I can't believe they're still actually open for business.

Good
It's in a poor area and lots of people on fixed income makes the facility seem like 2nd class treatment. Good counselors. Such a bad area, very rundown area.

My husband was in this facility 4 times this year 2016. He hasn\'t complained about the facility or the staff. He was so distraught with his mental depression and anxiety that I don\'t know if he actually noticed all the other bad things that others have described about Anchor. I am the wife and I had several upsets with the way this hospital is actually ran. We were told that visitation was on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 6:00 - 7:30. n I would ALWAYS get there early to be able to spend all the time I could with my husband. Every time I came I had to set in the lobby until they decided to take me back to the lunch room which one time was at 7:15. When walking to the lunch room I started balling my eyes out because at this time I only had 15 to spend with my husband. The staff was VERY nice and place my husband and I in a room by ourselves so that I could stay longer. Another time they actually took me to the lunch room early THEN didn\'t bring my husband to see me until 6:55. My biggest upset is when you can\'t get anyone to talk to you about your husband progress and what you need to do when he comes home. Duh, don\'t you think that\'s important?!?!?!?!?

Great
They give you a bed to sleep, food to eat, and some "free time" to smoke or get fresh air. The staff strongly prevents the adults from talking to the children. The staff seem to make the patients feel small. I personally had a male staff member whom I felt was trying to start a fight with me. I did report this, but I don't know if it ever helped. The staff needs to understand the they are dealing with fragile people. Even though it is difficult to handle clients at times as feel something needs to be done. Service given to the clients and respect given to staff members go together. Perhaps our country should take a step back and build more hospitals that cares for people with mental health issues than jails. Everyone needs to understand that the person suffering from mental health is nothing different than a person with heart ailments or diabetes. Just because you can't see mental health doesn't mean that it is not present.

I was a patient here for about two weeks, when it was suppose to one. This was my first and last time. The horror stories you hear about mental institutions are definetly true. The staff seemed as if they fed off the misfortunes of the patients. I came in about 146 pounds, and left about 128, so that tells you of the food. DO NOT SEND ANYONE THERE, even your worst enemy.

I was committed to this hospital 7 yrs ago, and only now i can actually write about it. The staff were cruel and actually laughed at the seriousness of my problem. They lost my clothes that my husband brought to me and were never found. Very nice clothes, i might add. I wonder where they ended up? I spent 5 of the most frightful days of my life in that place at 60 yrs old. They proceeded to take me and introduce me to the existing staff around the hospital. Unbelievable!!! If you are considering this hospital, please reconsider. Its a terrible place and experience.God help anyone that is committed into this facility!! with only wonderful therapy for 7 yrs getting me through

This facility is the worst experience that I have ever had. There is no information given to parents about minor children. The social workers gave reasons that contradicted each other and then said she was there for observation purposes. You don\'t keep a minor in a mental facility for , \"observation \". The professionals lied to me as the parent...Do not ever agree for your minor child to come to Anchor Hospital. It is not safe.

Ineffective, unprofessional. First clue should have been the EIGHT HOUR wait before staff finally got around to checking my fiancé\'s BAC, at which point it was twice the legal limit. When he came in he was nearly comatose and probably should have had emergency treatment but instead they waited the aforementioned 8 hours, assessed him, then SENT HIM HOME while waiting to verify insurance benefits. The ten half-days of treatment he eventually received was a joke. I deeply regret taking him there..

If you want to get well, do NOT go to Anchor. All you do is sit around most of the day. You are lucky if you get more than 10 mins with the Dr and more than two meetings a day. Some of the meetings are so poorly run, you end up listening to someone talking about somebody go on and on . The rest of the time you sit around in a area watching tv, playing cards, or staring at the walls. You will not get help. It's a sad place . Most of the staff is rude .

I was in anchor hospital for 6 days, I\'m from new jersey and visited some friends in Atlanta and then ended up there a couple days in. First of all there nice in the beginning. Then they don\'t care about you. The food, I rather eat dog or cat food. Two people there beegan fighting, one girl it was her first time. The other girl she was there for the 8th time and left my first day there and came back the next day. I would of gave them absolutely no stars if I could. They don\'t care about a single person there.

I was a patient at the hospital bought in as a voluntary 1013, My experience was bittersweet. My social worker avoided me because she was intimidated by my presence. My doctor only saw me 5 minutes at a time and did not take the time to speak with me regarding why I was in their hospital. He undermined my intelligence and kicked me out his office when I was trying to talk to him and explain my view, and he is the head doctor on staff treating patients like a cash cow. The facility was in poor condition, there were flys everywhere, the air conditioner did not work , the head Maintence man did not listen when I kept asking them to replace the filter in the water fountain because I can taste the stuff in the water from the water fountain being broke. If it weren\'t from some staff members who were there especially the daytime staff except for one nurse in particular my stay at anchor would have been sour. I have a meeting with them on next Friday to talk about my mistreatment

My husband was sent there three weeks ago with dementia and bipolar disorder... I think they have very little concern about patients' past behaviors or the safety of patients or the family that has got to take care of them. Please don't take anybody you love here.

Staff uses humiliation as a rehab tactic. Feels more like a prison than rehab. Be prepared to get little to no sleep. Food is almost inedible. Be sure to have change for vending machines. The facility is out dated. I was awakened by flashlight every 15 minutes during checks.

Great
I think overall it's a good facility I just don't like that they don't have actual security guards and instead staff has to respond to those emergency codes and after a while we learn what each code means and I just would feel safer with security on staff even if it's just one security guard. The therapists were wonderful.

The staff is extremely rude! The website states visitation upon request but when you request, it's denied! Very nosey on why you want to speak to someone other than the receptionist. I asked to speak with a social worker about my loved one, they asked why several times! Honestly it was none of their business but I told them anyway and they were very snooty about the situation. I asked about a release date because I am the one that will transport and I live in the center of the state, so I wanted to know. Then they proceeded to tell me before I even finished my sentence it was up to the doctor. All I wanted was information about a few different things. I tell you what next time I need to send a loved one it will not be to this hospital even if I have to take them to Kentucky it will not be here for sure! Also very unsanitary and roaches!
