Treatment Philosophy
Our approach to addiction treatment is a holistic one, seeking to restore hope and health to individuals who come to us out of painful, self-destructive patterns. It’s not enough to end a physical dependency through successful medical detox. On the other side of that first step, the recovering alcoholic or addict must have the right support in place to break those old habits and replace them with new ones. He or she must find a new way to fill the void that drugs or alcohol once did — essentially, find a new meaning in life.

At Oxford, we have an ideal environment that allows us to provide a whole host of activities and amenities that allow you to connect to nature, reflect, restore your physical health, and reconnect. Whether you want to focus on strengthening your body at our fitness centers, meditate on the banks of our private lake, or work with animals in our equine therapy program, our facility will provide a variety of features to not only make your time with us enjoyable, but to give you the best possible head start in recovery. While your recovery toolkit will have filled up nicely by the end of your time with us, not everybody is ready to move forward alone. Oxford’s aftercare planners and alumni coordinators will make sure you have a plan and a support network for transitioning back into the world after treatment. We also know the importance of making and maintaining a network of sober individuals, so we’ll connect you with local AA and 12-step chapters and with a national alumni network to provide you with a comprehensive support network for recovery.

Stonewater Adolescent Recovery Center

Stonewater is exceptional!! My son received the best care and felt loved by all the staff. They all treated him like family. His therapist Molly was amazing and did an excellent job with Chris and our family. His nurse Sandy was wonderful and was with him through all his doctors appointments. His academic advisor Daniel did a great job keeping Chris on track. The weekly communication was great. Stonewater changed my sons life in the most positive way. When he graduated there were so many tears of joy plus the fact that we will all miss our Stonewater Family. It was a blessing to find Stonewater and I thank them for helping my family and caring so much. My son would not be where he is today without Stonewater!! Thank you so much❤️❤️

CARE Clinic for Drug Addiction in Central Mississippi

From the moment I called CARE Clinic\'s office to ask about Suboxone treatment to the moment I filled my prescription was as seamless as it possibly could\'ve been. I didn\'t feel hassled or judged, and I left feeling like I was genuinely cared about and that I mattered. Not only that, I look forward to returning there for my follow-up because Dr. and the staff there were very genuine, respectful, attentive, and friendly. I\'m not one to praise medical offices in general, but I am here to tell you that you can trust this facility to treat you with dignity and to give you the needed support to take this critical and life-changing first step. I am now on my second day of treatment and I am already feeling like I can begin functioning normally again in life. I couldn\'t be more grateful for my experience there. I also want to thank the medical staff so very much for your compassionate and outstanding services. You all were a real joy to meet.

Drug and Alcohol Addiction in Hernando, MS

Addiction to opioids, including prescription pain killers such as oxycodone, heroin, and synthetic opioids like fentanyl has become a serious public health crisis.1 To better respond to the crisis, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is working to improve access to treatment and recovery services, promoting the use of overdose-reversing drugs, and supporting new research on pain and addiction.2

Hernando is one of those cities working to combat the opioid crisis. Hernando is the county seat of DeSoto County, which in 2017 held the dubious distinction of having the most suspected opioid overdose deaths in Mississippi.3

From 2018 to the first quarter of 2021, DeSoto County was third in the state in total suspected overdose deaths with 47.4 This number includes deaths related to prescription opioids, heroin, fentanyl, methamphetamines, and non-opioid prescriptions.4 It was also second in the state in total EMS Naloxone administrations.4 Naloxone is a drug that is used to reverse opioid-related overdoses.

DeSoto County, which includes Hernando, led the state in total drug-related arrests with more than 5,000 from 2018 to the first quarter of 2021.4. There were 10 drug arrests over the first weekend of 2022 alone.5

Drug rehab facilities in Hernando are designed to support those recovering from opioid addiction and often utilize physical as well as mental support. Physical support may include medical detox, which can incorporate medication while mental support involves in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of the opioid addiction. Group therapy can also be utilized to help patients build coping skills, maintain sobriety, and engage in positive social interactions.

Hernando, MS Detox and Rehab Availability

There are a variety of treatment options in Hernando for people looking for help to combat their drug or alcohol use. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Association (SAMHSA) lists 33 facilities within 25 miles of Hernando that offer all types of treatment ranging from outpatient to residential, live-in care.6 That’s more than 30% of the almost 100 drug rehab facilities available across the state.7

The treatment options in and around Hernando include6:

  • 8 facilities with supervised withdrawal from substance use.
  • 27 outpatient centers for patients who have a stable living environment.
  • 1 hospital inpatient facility for patients who need care 24 hours a day.
  • 12 inpatient centers that offer live-in care for patients who need more intensive treatment.
  • 10 facilities with transitional housing/sober living for those who need a step between inpatient and outpatient treatment.
  • 27 centers that offer specialized care designed to address both substance use disorders and mental illness.

Recovering from a substance use disorder takes time and patience. Identifying the right drug rehab in Hernando is the first step. Many patients have to take a step-down approach to recovery, often starting in detox before moving to an inpatient facility, which provides a safe living environment free from distraction and temptation. From there, patients can choose transitional housing or outpatient therapy to continue their recovery.
